My work is a reinterpretation of the afro-surrealist style. It seeks to explore duality, and break binaries by using decontextualized figures, text, and other references to create a surrealist blend that contains both extreme distortion, and ordinary details, breaking typical the binary between realism, and abstract work.

As a fashion designer, I borrow the fashion industry version of surrealism, which is more closely related to deconstruction.
My work deconstructs stories, and moments, into their simpler elements, leaving puzzle pieces for the viewer to piece together rather than a complete picture. By doing so it breaks the binary of finished and unfinished work, in a style where the puzzle pieces themselves are the full story. The work incorporates the process into the final composition. Mistakes and corrections are stitched into the work, rather than covered up, and in doing so provides an honest look at the subject, as well as a visual support of the nuanced themes in my work.
